Interestingly, the Carolina Sphinx Moth is the primary pollinator for Datura, since few other species can access its nectar. Datura is also a host plant for this moth. 

However, it’s important to remember that all parts of this plant are highly toxic and should be handled with care. Extracts from Datura and its relatives can be narcotic and potentially dangerous if consumed. The narcotic effects of these plants have been recognized by Indigenous Peoples since time immemorial.
