Difficulty: Advanced

The Aidah Gown pattern is a modish variant of the 'Italian Gown' style fashionable from the mid 1770s to the early 1790s.  This type of gown has a skirt and bodice cut as separate pieces, differentiating it from the earlier Robe à l'Anglaise which featured the skirt and bodice center-back cut as one piece.

Both views of the Aidah feature front pattern pieces that wrap around to the back with no side seams, pointed backs waists, paneled backs with squared-off back necklines and sleeves set far into the back, a full pleated skirt open at the front, two-piece sleeves, removable interior boning, and an optional waist tape.  Choose between a pinned front closure or a hooked front closure.

View A has a smoothly pointed front curve that ends in a truncated V, elbow length or ¾ sleeves, a two panel back, and a floor length skirt.

View B features a tabbed bodice front with an optional cutaway front, full length or ¾ length sleeves, a four panel back, and a slight train.

Mix and match front closures, fronts, backs, skirts, and sleeves for a variety of looks.

The pattern features a clever skirt pattern based on 18th century skirt construction, as well as the detailed historical instructions and helpful fitting guide Scroop + Virgil's Fine Goods patterns are known for.

The Aidah is designed to be interchangeable with elements of the Angelica Gown, to make both patterns more versatile.  The sleeves of the Aidah can be swapped with the Angelica Gown sleeves.  The fronts of the Aidah can also be swapped out with the Angelica front/side-front at the curved side-back seams.

The Aidah Gown is designed to be worn over a full set of 18th century undergarments, including stays, such as the Augusta Stays and a false rump, such as the Frances Rump.

This pattern does not include instructions on making the petticoat (skirt) that is visible at the front of the gown. There are numerous free tutorials for this on the internet.

    Great start! 4.5
    Format: Kindle
I really enjoyed the first book in this series! The plot and characters are fully fleshed out it seems, and executed quite well. There's sometimes the fmcs reactions seem immature but idk if that's the right word and I like her otherwise and trust I'm easily annoyed by actual immaturity so it's not a deal breaker :) can't wait to see where we go!

    Just Wow
    Format: Kindle
This book is the start of an amazing new supernatural romance series by KC Kean, and like all her other series, it is incredible! From the first page she sucks you in to the story and you just cannot put it down. She is such an amazing storyteller, you feel like you are right there in the world she is creating, and I love that about her writing. The FML, Raven,is a strong, badass character who can hold her own, but still has a soft spot for her men. And Holy wow what men they are. Lots of shared heat between them all that had my heart racing. Parts of this story had me literally tensing in anticipation of what may be coming next. Spice, danger, drama, mystery…the perfect package. I read it in less than a day, to my own detriment, because then I am left in suspense for the next book. I cannot wait for the next book. Highly recommend reading this!

    New favorite
    Format: Kindle
I have been working my way through KC Kean's series's and this is my new favorite! Raven is a magicless girl living in a wasteland. She is taken to a magical academy where nothing is as it seems, and her life is forever changed. This is an original story with characters you can't help but love or hate depending on who you are talking about. There were no slow parts, the steam is at a perfect level, and I can't wait to start the next book. Edit: Added after finishing the series. FYI Book 1 was AMAZING. Book 2 was not quite as good, but still worth reading. Books 3 and 4 really went downhill. If I had known, I don't know if I would have started the series.

Fallen Angels, fae, vampires, oh my!
    Format: Kindle
Rating: 4.5 | Spice: 2 (but a good slow-burn) • Main Characters: Huntyr and Wolf • I couldn’t wait to read this book; there was so much hype about it! And there was no doubt why. I fell in love with the characters and the plot itself. This book is mainly plot driven more than friction driven but it’s easy to follow along with. The characters are fun, easily understood. The main setting is at an academy where both the main characters are going through trials and building strength for the final test, The Transcendent. There are fantastic side characters as well. I loved the camaraderie between Huntyr and her friends. But we don’t like Lanson. 😆 We do have some plot twists that come into play throughout the book. Secrets and betrayal to be seen. I did adore Wolf and Huntyr’s relationship. It was a classic slow burn trope. They didn’t hit it off fast, but in time their feelings grew. I loved their banter, so sexy. Wolf is your next book boyfriend; Huntyr is your next vampire assassin independent bad-a*s female. Themes include loyalty, trust, self-discovery, a true slow burn romance. Side note: book ends on a angsty cliffhanger! • Emily, thank you for writing this awesome novel and I cannot wait to devour Book 2, Blood So Brutal! 😍 • Happy reading, my lovelies! xo

“My heart bows to you and you only, Huntress.”
    Format: Kindle
3.5 🌟 This book popped up in my KU recommended reading suggestions and the synopsis sounded like what I was in the mood for. I'm so glad I took a chance on it. I went into this knowing absolutely nothing about it and ended up really liking it. I love when this happens. The main characters are likeable and I easily found myself rooting for them. There is a mystery element to each of their backstories that I enjoyed watching unfold and can't wait to get more of. Wolf, in particular, has me fixated. Love him. I found this to be an entertaining, addictive read with a plot that moves along at a good pace. It reads so easily I found myself very reluctant to put it down. Lots of twists and turns and the angst is there. A good set up for the next book to come, for sure. My issues with this book....the dialogue feels a bit juvenile at times and there is a repetitive over use of a particular word phrasing that I found myself giving the ole eye-roll to. There are, without a doubt, some pretty cliche moments that gave me a bit of the cringe. I think this could've certainly 100% benefited from more depth regarding the world building. Perhaps the world building was sacrificed to keep the pacing quick? Just a guess. Also, the lack of consistency of character for the FMC was really evident and so she feels quite illogical at times. Overall, this was a fun and enjoyable read that hit the spot well enough for me. That ending certainly has me impatiently pining for book 2!
