There are collar tabs sewn in place at the points on the collars, each with a black felt centre within a gilt aluminum braided-style frame, each tab bearing gold-coloured crossed cannons indicating an Artillery unit. The front has two large pockets at the waist with fold over flaps. The left breast has five medals affixed: Medal for 10 Years of Irreproachable Service of the Armed Forces of the USSR (in brass), Medal for 15 Years of Irreproachable Service of the Armed Forces of the USSR (in silvered and gilt brass), Medal for 20 Years of Irreproachable Service of the Armed Forces of the USSR (in silvered brass with red enamels), Jubilee Medal for the 20th Year Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War 1945-1965 (in brass) and Jubilee Medal for 60 Years of the Armed Forces of the USSR 1918-1978 (in brass), each of the medals measuring 32 mm in diameter. The front is completed by four large gilt aluminum buttons on the right side, each bearing the Red Army insignia, facing four reinforced button holes on the left side, each of the buttons maker marked "МОСШТАМП" (Mosstamp) on the reverse, the top three buttons number marked "64", the bottom button marked "67". Both sleeves are trimmed in red piping representing an Infantry unit. Both shoulders exhibit brown threading and the right breast exhibits multiple holes where insignia previously resided. The inside of the tunic is lined in a steel blue nylon-cotton blend, while the sleeves are lined in the same material, with top-entry pockets placed on either side, plus a 60 mm long steel blue cotton strap in the collar for placing the tunic on a hook. The tunic measures 50 cm across the shoulders x 70 cm in length, is free of mothing, exhibiting light soiling, both shoulders with brown threading and the right breast with multiple holes where insignia previously resided.

2. Uniform Cap: the exterior is fabricated from a bluish-green wool, with a 43 mm wide band in black felt around its circumference, the top edge of which is trimmed in red piping representing Infantry, as is the very top edge of the cap around its circumference. There is a 84.5 mm (w) x 44 mm (h) Red Army officer's cap badge in gilt aluminum with red and white enamels affixed via dual prongs on the front. The stiff visor is finished in a thick black plastic simulating a patent leather, the upper with a shiny finish, with a duller black underside. There is a single band of cord forming two rows resting upon the visor, the cord in rolled gold-coloured bullion wire in a braided pattern, running across the front with matching knots on either end, the cord looped around gilt aluminum buttons bearing the Red Army insignia on either side. Inside, the underlying stiff framework on the sidewalls and dome are wrapped in a green nylon. It incorporates a 40 mm wide sweatband in a simulated leather, with a gray upper and brown underside, the ends of which are stitched together, stamped in white ink with a rectangular box inscribed "OTK3 / 1SOV" (English translation from the Russian) on the right underside. The dome incorporates a gray diamond-shaped Kiev-based company manufacturer's label, marked "УССР" (Украи́нская Сове́тская Социалисти́ческая Респу́блика = Soviet Ukraine) with a circle at the the top and the text indicating the cap was made in Odessa in 1986, along with being stamped in white ink with the size "54". The cap measures 26.5 cm in width x 28 cm in depth x 14 cm in height, is free of mothing and nips on the exterior in the wool, however, sweat stains are present in the green nylon lining in the dome.

Very fine.

One of Ann Patchett’s best novels.
Format: Hardcover
“Whistler,” by Ann Patchett, Harper, 320 pages, June 2, 2026. Daphne and Jonathan Fuller are visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art when Jonathan notices an older man following them. They go up to the next floor and the man is still following them. It turns out he is Eddie Triplett, Daphne’s former stepfather, who was married to her mother for a little more than year when Daphne was nine. They haven’t seen each other in almost 45 years, but he recognizes her. It is a chance meeting. Daphne teaches literature at a private school and Jonathan is a retired hospital administrator. Eddie is an editor at Random House, but he wasn’t at the office this day because of a water main break. Daphne visits her sister, Leda, to tell her about the encounter. Flashback to 1980, when Leda was having an appendectomy, Eddie was driving Daphne to the hospital in a snowstorm and they were in an accident. Daphne had to climb out of a car window and walk for help. After that, her mother divorced Eddie. Of course, there’s more to what happened. This is a wonderful story about adults looking back at the choices they’ve made and the choices that others made for them. It is about the small things that impact our lives and memories of childhood. It is about families, love and bravery. This is one of Ann Patchett’s best novels.

Another amazing book from a talented author
Format: Kindle
This is one of my favorite authors so I knew I would enjoy this book and once again, the characters seemed so real like people I knew personally. I very much enjoyed Daphne and Eddie’s relationship and I loved learning about Eddie and Daphne’s mother’s life together and why things played out the way they did. This book truly shows how people can impact us forever regardless of how long they were in our life. There was so much beauty in this book despite the loss and sadness at times. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A book that hugs back.
Format: Hardcover, Format: Hardcover
I picked this book for my brother-in-law when we were celebrating my sister’s pregnancy, and the title ‘Why a daughter needs a dad’ sealed the deal. The illustrations are beautiful and full of tenderness. The messages on each page are simple and meaningful. I could so clearly picture him reading it to his baby girl someday. It’s the kind of book that isn’t just read – it’s felt. A thoughtful gift for someone you love – especially during such a special season of life.
