Sleeveless it has decorative double breasted buttons at the side which are just for show as closure is the zipper down the side. There are darts at the bust and a drop waist seam from which a pleated skirt descends.

It's still completely useful and worth the purchase to me without the lanyard, but if the lanyard is a dealbreaker for you, you may wish to reconsider. I can't imagine it staying on very long in any environment. 2 kids and a cat it lasted about 20 minutes.
