This is an incredible numbered Christian Dior from the 1950s. The color is a deep red that seems to glow from within with its own light! It is hand dyed on a fine ribbed silk satin that is very beautiful. This is classic Dior and based on the "New Look" silhouette with a fitted top and full skirt. The bodice is strapless and sculpted to the body. It is kept simple with the shape created with vertical seaming that accentuates the bust. This curves with no break into the nipped in waist. The skirt is full and I have styled it over a crinoline so you can see just how full it really is. The simplicity of the cut belies master cutting and seam work and allows the fabric and girl wearing it to shine. An exceptional early example dress that would have been custom made and sold through the Dior London shop. It has a few small flaws so please read below. It presents wonderfully once on. An important and rare piece of Dior history.

Fully lined  in a silk organza that id dyed to match and follows the pattern and pieces of the dress. It closes with a hand set, back painted metal zipper as well as hook & eye and snaps. Light boning through the bodice. The inner seams are ribbon finished or a combination of hand and machine edged. There is some minor discoloration that runs down the front - it presents as a slight darkening of the fabric. Some seams have been let out and you can see the stitches. I have photoed all the areas to the best of my ability - please super size to view. It has been priced accordingly and I feel that if you wish to wear it these thins would not detract or be readily apparent. Note the color is a touch deeper red then how it has photographed.
